Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Food Service Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our school lunch program. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality food preparation, maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, and provide leadership to our kitchen staff. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily food service operations, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of meals.

  • Responsible for the oversight of day-to-day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by management.

  • Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees.

  • Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.

  • Train, schedule, and manage a team of food service and delivery driver staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and manage supplies to minimize waste and control costs.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, management, and other stakeholders.

  • Address and resolve any operational issues promptly and professionally.

  • Assist in menu planning and execution, ensuring meals meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions.

  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and facilities, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures.

  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

  • Complies with all policies and procedures.

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in school food service, hospitality, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service management or supervision, preferably in a school or institutional setting.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification or equivalent preferred, or the ability to obtain within two weeks of hire).

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse teams.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Google Docs, Google Sheets).

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Frequently stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry items up to 50 pounds; push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 150 pounds.

  • Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach for supplies and equipment.

Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)   

  • Work is conducted in close proximity to hot equipment in humid surroundings.

  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday mornings.
